Membership FAQ

What is ICF Ireland?

ICF Ireland is the Irish chapter of the International Coach Federation, open to members in any part of the island of Ireland, or overseas.

ICF has almost two hundred members in the Ireland chapter and over 30,000 members worldwide. Locally we aim to run some face to face events, provide local coaching circles to help members connect and support each other, and to promote and support the development of the coaching profession in Ireland.

We are led by the ICF Ireland Board made up of volunteering members including the President and Vice President, with annual election of new board members.

What are the benefits?

Your membership provides the credibility of a worldwide organisation, opportunities for further professional accreditation and a wealth of training material, research and resources online for coaches. We also are eligible for discounted professional insurance, and discounts on other products.

Am I eligible to join?

If you have completed, or are in the process of completing, a professional coaching course which is a minimum of 60 hours of coach-specific training or education, then you are eligible to join as an ICF global member. The education programme must be specifically aimed at training participants in coaching skills.

What courses are recognised?

Most courses delivered face to face in Ireland meet or exceed the membership requirements – while they may not yet have specific ICF approval e.g. ACSTH (Approved Coach Specific Training Hours) or ACTP (Approved Coach Training Programme).

Our members would have completed coaching programmes from providers such as, for example, Smurfit School , IMI, UCC as well as those offered by Irish Lifecoach Institute, LECI, Coach Institute, Coaching Development, Positive Success Group and many others. We cannot endorse any specific provider.

Do I need experience to join?

No, you may join as a full member while you are completing your coach training?

How much is membership?

Membership in 2016 is $245USD payable to ICF Global, for 12 months membership, which runs from April to March the following year. If joining after March the payment is pro-rata for the remaining months.

How do I join?

All membership joining and payment is handled through the USA and the ICF Global website.
